Runaway Studios Inc. is a family-founded Chicago software studio — the studio behind Intellijoy — that owns and operates its own software products, and has for over a decade. What is in our catalog is not client work. We own the brands, the code, and the customers.
Our work spans two worlds that don't usually sit together: children's educational apps that have reached tens of millions of families, and AI assistants that quietly operate real email, calendars, and accounts over an ordinary text message. What connects them is that we own both outright, and a bias toward software people actually use — every day, without having to think about it.
The studio's roots are in software that's been shipped, maintained, and used at scale: Intellijoy's early-learning apps have passed 50 million downloads across more than 25 million families and carry Google Play's “Top Developer” badge. Everything in the catalog is ours the same way - a product line we own and run, not a job we did for someone else. More recent additions include Frondesk (formerly Wren, now at frondesk.ai), a live AI assistant you reach on a single phone number.
The studio stays small and hands-on. Fewer handoffs, a shorter path from an idea to something real, and — under Jacob Turetsky — the same people on the work from first sketch to shipped release.
